What is Music Therapy?

Music Therapy is the clinical use of music to reach social, emotional, physical and cognitive goals.

In some countries, such as the United States, Music Therapy is a thriving evidence-based field that is continuing to grow in research and implementation.

In other regions of the world, music has been used as a way of healing for centuries and is an age-old practice for many cultures. Through observation, collaboration and exchange, Umoja connects with these preexisting practices and provides resources and advocacy to promote them further.

To learn more information about the growing field of music therapy, visit the World Federation of Music Therapy and the American Music Therapy Association websites.
